2020 Year in Review: Informal Guidance

In our second annual Informal Guidance Year in Review, we are experimenting with interactive data visualizations via Tableau Public. We also included some new visualizations of formal advice and our response times. While these are hardly scientific measures, they illustrate how different programs are more or less active from month to month and year to year. We continue to look for new ways to track, assess, and plan for our advice and compliance work. You can find our 2019 Year-in-Review here.

A few notes:

  • "Filing" refers to requests that focus on more technical aspects of our filing systems, such as filer registration, password recovery, and mechanics of filing.
  • This data is based on designating only one topic per requestor. Often a request for advice, particularly in our ethics programs, involves multiple topics.
  • This data does not include questions answered during training programs. We reached nearly 1,700 people through 74 training sessions. Our CY2020 Training Overview is available here.
