May a new City employee, who previously worked as a consultant before joining the City, continue that work after becoming a City employee?
Generally, yes. The City employee would, however, have to ensure that their outside employment complies with City and State ethics requirements, such as the conflicts of interest rules, the representation restriction, and rules regarding the use of confidential information.
