If a PAC or an individual hosts a fundraiser for a candidate, are contributions from third-party/attendees attributable to the host?
No. For the purposes of the City’s Campaign Finance Law, if an individual makes a contribution directly to the candidate, it is only attributable to that individual even if the contribution is made at an event hosted by a different person or entity. Importantly, a different outcome may result under the Non-Competitively Bid Contracts Law.
